Someone mentioned on here there was a video about the design of the Jerry Can. I took a mental note of it but didn't click on anything. Last night when browsing YouTube on my Firestick guess the first recommendation video I should watch?
Coincidence? I think not.

You did not know? it's google that does it, the idea is so they can "show you more suitable adverts" to what you have been looking at. They have been doing it for quite a few years.

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.
If gloom had a voice, it would be me.

any phone or voice devices - did you talk about it
We have all our devices switched OFF as far as possible for Voice - but talking about a holiday my son was planning, next thing i know i'm getting adverts and all we did was talk - i rechecked all the devices, Sonos, iphones, macbooks etc - and all OFF - but i suspect they are not really OFF
Anything searched on read online - often comes up as adverts now - Screwfix/toolstation/axminster - if i look at anything , will then be in the advertisements on many sites
I even get an email from them saying i was looking at ??? did i mean to carry on a buy - type thing
Axminster - thanks for dropping by email

You misunderstood. I never said you did google it. I said it was google that did it.
Google "watches" almost everything you do online, the reason being (as I said earlier) so they can show you adverts you may be interested in, the idea of that is so they can charge more / get more people to advertise with them.
FYI YouTube is owned by google

It has gone beyond that. Last week a friend whom is internet mobile security OTT, e-mailed me on my travels to say he had bought a new video cam because he was doing video calls with some mates, knowing his aversion to Apps and such as WhatsApp, I thought only thought he must be using his old skype account. Next day when I opened my phone there was a pop up reminding me I had not used skype recently and needed to log in; I have not used it for about 4 years!! He told me he has not used his either and his mate has a video conference account which he gets a code to join in. He blames it on my Chinese Huawei mobile.

I am using duckduckgo as my search engine now and see far fewer of the occurrences. Can't stop everything tracking yon but at least it's something.

It was me who put up the jerry can video . I'm not really sure what I was watching but it may have been a video about submarines or the battle of Midway and it appeared on the suggestions list.
I use a touch screen ipad and the worst thing is that it's so easy to click on an advert for something like bikinis when trying to scroll down...
Or at least that's what I tell the wife....

Now here's a thing. Today I went to a customer to measure up and we got to talking. He told me about the cordless vacuum cleaner and also the Henry he had repaired. I mentioned about one I had that I seem to be having problems getting the brushes for. Not long ago he phoned to say a "how to repair Henry hoover" video was suggested when he went on his tablet. Now we only just chatted ,, no looking on the net or anything , I can only put it down to a surprisingly odd coincidence or thst alexa was listening to our conversation...

? But doesn't this site use adverts?. I looked first without logging in and the adverts take up half the page. I linked this site to another forum I use and one poster there was quite dismissive of the adverts here particularly the "trick to cut energy bills" type that appeared top of the page when I wasn't logged in. I seem to recall a thread about just those very adverts some time ago ( posted by ericmark perhaps?).
