FAULT WITH SWITCH AND SOCKET

HI Guys

We have three issues:

a) the 13 amp spur switch is news but isn't working (red square),
b) the extractor fan is new, worked before the new 13 amp spur switch was installed,
c) the 2 gang socket worked, but has stopped working (green square).

Black squares are 2 gang sockets, all new, which all work.

Any help much appreciated.

Many thanks.

That's nice.

Since the "spur" is new I would have to guess it has been wired wrong, or connected wrong. Picture of connections would help. (Turn the mains off first.)

You can not be serious?

What is with the rubber bands?

I am not going to mention the amount of copper I can see.

Teams, I assume you do not see what is wrong?

Get the person who did it back.........................unless it was you, was it? (we all make mistakes)

teams, Looks to me like that black wire (neutral) with the copper showing isn't actually connected. As S-e says that's an amateur job.

Yes it was me, I'll have a go tomorrow. All but two of the wires are really rigid, the problem is also the new switch / socket, the bit which holds the screws tilts (a design feature).

This is the old Spur Switch, picture taken before removing - the instructions for the new switch state that it's a case of wiring it the same.

Yes, they probably do, but you didn't.

We all learn from our mistakes.

You need to make the connections on your new FCU look like the connections on your old FCU. You picture clearly shows the black wire is not connected properly.

I think 'wiring it the same way is incorrect, simply because the switch is 'colour coded', I noticed that when I was doing it, but followed there 'do it the same way'.

Below is the diagram.

But you still have the copper wire exposed.

Still no joy, used colour codes on diagram / switch. As below

These are the cables that need to be wired to the switch:

Cable 1 - Brown and Blue,
Cable 2 - Red, Black and Green / Yellow (I've just used green in the diagram)
Cable 3 - Red, Black and Green / Yellow (I've just used green in the diagram)
