Heat pump?
Just wondering about them really, so I put it here.
Been reading a lot and YT about air source heat pumps, seems to be quite controversial.
Do any of you have one? and if so what do you think? (Is it good, bad ? (Ugly is a given) noisy ?
If you have not got one what do you think is involved? and what do you think the pros/cons are.
Me? I am not sure what to believe.

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

Heat pump?
There are some significant youtubers that 'call them out'. My overall impresion is that you MUST have the right property and even location for them to work. That they'll 'save you money' and that .Gov is actively pushing them on a climate change basis is utter twaddle.

Someone-Else, Razor is our resident expert on these, as I understand it the heat output from the radiators are about 50 degrees Celsius, as opposed to 65/70 with a gas boiler. Properly insulated is a must.

Heat pump?
To clarify, I am NOT getting a heat pump, I am just asking what folk think to them or what they have heard about them.

Heat pump?
I think I have mentioned this before, we have an air to water heat pump, it powers the UFH and a tank of DHW. We do live in a new house so yes the insulation is good 400mm ceilings floor and walls 150mm, we have a lot of glass which is all heat reflective, sorry don't know the name. We have the house temp set at 23C and the water at 50c. The outside unit can be noisy but only if you are close to it 3/5Mts ours is at the side and on the south side so we don't really go past it much, after all its a big fan pushing a lot of air about. the boiler/exchange unit is large but in our case its in the garage, so plenty of room. It is by far the best heating system we have ever had, and cost wise we pay 155€ per month for all our elecy needs. If you can reach the correct insulation values in an older house, and replace or add more rads then I personally think it worth it, but France is mainly nuclear power so cheaper bills, at the moment.

Thanks for that. How much cheaper is your 'lecky bill now than before you had it fitted?

We lived in a caravan for twelve years while I built it, so impossible to say, but that's another story.kellys_eye wrote: ↑Thu Apr 14, 2022 11:41 amThanks for that. How much cheaper is your 'lecky bill now than before you had it fitted?

Dang. Well done on the 'upgrade' then but I was hoping to get some real-world numbers to see what we're looking at with these new fangled systems.
Of course, given the recent energy price rises all sorts of 'exotic' so-called enery saving systems are going to be pushed - hard - but the customer always seems to be one wall away from the actual and important details.
