Is £107.50 per hour reasonable for an auto electrician? I haven't used one for a while but thought this was expensive.

I would not want to have an open ended price like that. What is the problem, have you scanned it, often the scanners can pinpoint the problem area.

Eh? I don't know what you lads think I mean but I mean a garage that specialises in auto electrics. They charged me £215 for two hours of work. Seems very high to me.

What do you guys think I mean?

I thought you were asking before having the work done. Presumably, you have the problem sorted now so I guess it is all academic really you may have got a cheaper hourly rate elsewhere but he may have taken longer to fix it so it would be a similar cost.

The job was to remove a reversing camera from my work Luton Van before it goes to auction. The same place installed it last year. They quoted me two hours labour but the full bill came in at £258 but that includes £43 VAT which we are exempt from. So we've been charged £215 which equates to £107.50 per hour which I thought was high but I haven't used an auto electrician in years so I just wanted to know the going rate.

My work is paying for it but it's taxpayers money so I'm curious if I've been overcharged.

The garage has just replied to me saying it took them 4hrs! Despite them quoting me two hours labour. They stated:

It was 4 hours labour.
This is due to the way the cables were run both underneath and inside the vehicle and across the headlining which had to get dropped.

It was the boss who quoted me two hours labour. Considering they had only installed it a year previous I'd have thought they'd have known how long it would have taken to remove.

Personally I think they're at it.

It does seem steep given the history, they should have known how to do it. I suspect as it was being paid for by corporate they bring in a set of charges that Joe Public would not pay.

I think DWDs bang on. Some companies see that it's a corporation and double the bill. My boss said just to pay it which ticks me off because it means they're getting away with it.

When I get my new van I won't be going to them to fit it.

20-30 mins to pull a camera, maybe a bit longer if it had a standalone screen - B2B screw you tax, it's a tax write off bill anyway
