Covering for wall cable

Post by KarenCC »

Hello

Would love some suggestions on this please.

A TV man has just run a TV cable to my kitchen. He offered the option of having it fitted to the skirting board - but said that they didn't do wall sockets. Though he could run the cable directly through the wall.

Unfortunately the skirting sticks out quite a way and so having it there does not fit with the furniture etc. So I asked him to put it through the wall directly. The hole is quite small but I would like to make it look a bit tidier. Has anyone got any ideas what I can buy to make it smarter. I was looking at something like this:
https://www.screwfix.com/p/labgear-whit ... lsrc=aw.ds

But I don't want to have to take the end off the TV aerial to attach it. I'm worried I won't get it back on correctly. I'm wondering if there is something similar that opens down the side and clamps back again, so that I can slot it onto the cable near the wall.

I've attached a photo so you can see what I mean.

Fill the hole with a filler/caulk, it will also look less obtrusive than a "mushroom" Or buy one of the mushrooms and cut it down the side yourself.

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

I used LAP brushes in their grid switch system, the "mushroom" is really for outside so water drips away from hole. I just mix the brick dust with clear silicon and fill hole.

The brushes you mention would be of no use in this case as it would need a patress and would look silly in this case, and brick dust and silicone would be like underlining your nose with a moustache, the hole needs to be "hidden" not emphasised. Plain caulk can be painted over.
