Arc Welding Rods of the 80/90s

Post by leckyone »

Trying to find a company/suppliers name of a mild steel blue arc welding rod of the 80/90s. The company where I worked at that time did mild steel fabrications from 5mm to 20mm thick.

We used various types of rods depending on size/thickness of the fabrication using such as Iron powdered, Silcon, High tensile rods and Dissimilar rods.
,
One rod we used for general fabrications was Blue fluxed in colour, this rod was so universal to use. Striking to start was easy, flow with good penetration and the slag would peel easily behind you while welding. It was so easy to use compared to others then and today.

Wanting to fabricate some Jigs for my sons kit car chassis fabrication..

Anyone in the fabrication at this time know of these rods.

Things have come a long way with technology best bet is to find a local welding supplier, most are willing to advise
