Hello bludall,I have same problen then your vw BCB engine was.Your problem fixed change some broken sparkplug coil is that right only one coil new?

jeppe, just to add to what moderator 2 said, bludall, of whom you asked a question, was last active in 2019, so will never read or reply to you. (Another reason why digging up old posts is not a good idea, not just this forum, but any forum, people come and go. :sad: )

My K75 BMW used to do that, eventually found a connector in the ignition loom with a bit of corrosion, cleaned up and extra squeeze fixed it good.
Had 3 older Golfs and most problems were electrical, the fuse box being the offender; as a suggestion exercise the related fuse.
I don't know the Mk4 are they in line ignition coils in the HT lead?
