Conifer Tree
I have a Conifer Tree in the back garden, it is on the neighbours garden which over hangs on to mine.
I have trimmed it a few times.
Using a tall ladder and a hedge trimmer on a pole, I can kind of get to the horizontal line shown in yellow line.
Any higher the ladder gets very shaky.
The height of the tree is around 6m
My question is does anyone have any suggestion how I can get to trim the whole lot.

The problem with conifers is that if you cut back the face too far it just shows bare branches that never gtow back green. You can top out but it is hard work. If you can go to lt get a tree guy In as he can chip and cart the waste, see if you can collaborate with the tree owners.

Yes and no. If you cut it back parallel to the fence line which you are entitled to do by law it will look like this https://www.alamy.com/conifer-hedge-wit ... 29515.html it will not grow back. You can take the height out your side but it will gow upwards again. The green waste is a huge headache and you need a chipper to reduce the waste volume to bags you can schlep down the dump. You can shape the face clipping back but leave at least an inch of green. They are an effing nuisance, best removed.

I am not going to cut back to the fence line but shape so that it does not get out of control !
I have shaped it before but it is the height that is becoming a challenge

The best tool I ever bought was a min chainsaw. they can cut through 50mm branches no problem. Wedge cut to avoid pinching the blade. One-handed cordless, easy to use off a ladder you can get them off eBay for £15. Get 24v up if you can.

Far from stupid, it is safe. Doesn't matter what tool you have, if its too high, its too high.
You may want to see if you can find a tree surgeon willing to do it, it may well be worth asking the neighbours do they want their side trimming, if not go ahead with your tower idea.
Might seem daft or OTT but a lot of people have accidents with ladders, and you can't reach the top anyway, and NEVER over reach. You only need to fall once and that's it, get the tower or tree surgeon.

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

Conifer Tree
Cutting at height is not as easy as it looks, get a pro in, my friend started to trim a small tree last week and fell off the ladder, broke his wrist, and his pelvis in two places, he will not be leaving hospital for a long time, he has to wear nappies as he cannot get up to pee or s**** not worth the risk.

Looking at it again that must be at leat 30 foot up. The tree guys climb up the inside and secure themselves to the trunk. They level the top out that way as you cannot reach from the face. I would say that your best approach is to speak to the neighbour and try to get a mutual benefit job done by sharing the cost. 12 foot would be manageable but to get to that there is a load of green waste to be chipped.
