Hi

New to forum, so hoping for some advice on a fireplace project - hoping this is right forum.

Gas fire removed by engineer. Purchased new electric stove.

Gap remaining - want to potentially cable fire in at opening, electrician due to view soon.

What to do with gap? Was considering filling with hardboard to exactly cover hole with a prop behind in case needed access in future, painting black and putting stove in front.

Do I need small vent at front? Anything up chimney such as insulation?

Any suggestions?

Complete novice so advice appreciated

Thanks

If you block the chimney you will get condensation. As its a chimney the top is open so a vent at the bottom would allow air flow, besides if you block it off, how will santa get down?
