I want to change the two cooker hood lights from halogen to led. I propose to buy two led lamps and think I will need a new transformer. Just to verify this I have attached a photo of the existing transformer. Do I need a new transformer or will this one do for led's?
Has anyone any experience of doing this job?
FYI: You can tell if a "transformer" is suitable for LED's or not by looking at its output rating.
If you look at yours it clearly says "lamp: 20-60W"
Which in plain engrish means the minimum lamp wattage must be 20w
As most LED Lamps are 5w each, what do you now think? (I am trying to teach you for your own future reference.)

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

Nope.

You can now get power supplies rated from zero, this TLC - Premium Electronic Transformer ( 0w - 50w ) for example, just need to swap the transformer for a modem one.
