Connecting electrical wires after cutting

Post by JordansDIY »

I have had to cut some electrical wires as I had to do some floor joist repairs for my bathroom floor. I now plan to reconnect those electrical wires using Ideal 32A 2way push wire connectors.

As the wires are a bit short to reconnect, I am going to get some Prysmian 6242Y Grey 1mm² Twin & Earth Cable from Screwfix which I’m hoping is suitable.

I was wondering how do I find out which junction box will be suitable and compatible to put those connectors in considering it is a bathroom floor.

It is about a meter away from where the shower will be and a 22mm chipboard floor and also will be tiled over so not sure if that makes any difference.

Would appreciate specific product recommendations of what junction boxes I can use to make sure I get the right one.

The cables are for the kitchen lighting and some humidistat extractor fans for the bathroom and kitchen located below.

I live in Essex,UK and want it to be compliant and safe.

Massively appreciated,
Jordan

Don't use ideal push fits, use wago lever connectors and a wago box.

I would use 1.5mm cable not 1mm
You will also need some earth sleeving.
Above are my opinions Below is my signature.

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.
