Bathroom panels

Hi,

Looking at completey redoing a bathroom.

It is very small and we're hoping to just panel all the way around using the popular bathroom PVC panels (10mm thick). Some places seem to charge around £50 per panel and others £100. They are both PVC, 10mm thick, 2.4m×1m.

Can anyone recommend places worth buying them from?

We do have a bathroom set lined up to purchase for a plumber to swap over with the bath/shower screen inc. We have a black mixer tap/shower unit already.

I've fitted this stuff before now. If I'm honest I'mnot totally enamoured with it but that's just personal taste. As to the where to buy it from it a lot depends on where you are . The last lot I fitted were purchased from a,place in Oldbury . Whether that was the best place I don't know but the important factor was that it was less than 1/2 a mile from the job. You'll need a van or estate to fetch them and they can be easily damaged so being able just to pop round for another is a distinct advantage rather than having to drive for hours.

the plastic panels that are a more solid type are sound like. that stuff thats about 2.4m long by like 300mm wide or whatever is a bit crap. where it buckles and breaks when it gets knocked

appart from the lack off impact resistance
the other problem you have is any fixings into the wall through the cladding can crush the cladding so only very light things with a large footprint to spread the load will work
for example iff you have a sink bracket or wall hung cistern with only top holes you can off course space the top fixing off the wall via the plug hole to space off the wall but the load will compress the cladding over the rest off the bracket

Yeah the stuff I used in Oldbury for the two bathrooms was a mix of the two types. Customer had got the more solid stuff for the walls , came in panels about 600 mm wide if I remember correctly. The ceilings were done in the more fragile stuff that was about 300mm wide. Of course doing the ceiling first left it vulnerable while doing the walls and I did catch one panel and had to replace it which was a pain.
Just one other thing to add , I first encountered this stuff when a friend had her bathroom done. It was just completely white and I thought it looked stark and clinical. The Oldbury job panels had a silver "trim" on them which I thought made it look better.

the 1meter wide panels in my experience of them they are solid mate. you need to use a circular saw or track saw to cut them. unlike the thin crap ypu mention that is damaged easily and crushes easily
