Eaves Vents

When laying loft insulation, is it worth the outlay of buying eaves vents? I know we're always told to ensure ventilation and such vents would do this. However, most loft insulation *(with the exception of bag-wrapped) seems pretty porous already.

Don't put the loft insulation to the extreme edge, works for me.
