Manhole lifting tool for this

Post by Zimzim »

I've got a couple of these recessed manhole cover things in my garden. There's obviously a 'proper' tool for these, but lots of different types available for sale on screwfix on the like and I'm not sure which type works with this. The hole is 14mm diameter. Anyone know? BTW, one of the one of the other ones has locking buts or something in there, they've obviously been removed from this one (no need to locks them as they're in my back garden).

Have you tried a "universal key"

You need two of them. You poke it between the "lid" and the "edge" lifting it up alternately a few mm at a time

Above are my opinions Below is my signature.

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

 If gloom had a voice, it would be me.

:idea1: Click Here for a video how to add/change pictures

This is the technique I've been using, or thereabouts. I thought If I spent a few quid I might find something that means a bit less bending and, if I end up on my knees, the old man agony of lifting myself back up again! What I'm mainly trying to avoid is buying the wrong ones over and over and endless trips back and forth to DIY stores for refunds!

It is probably a Lewis Pin lift. This will give you an idea to save me typing http://www.liftingpins.co.uk/product/lewis_pin
