Covering Plaster Corner Bead

Post by Sion71 »

Hi,

We have recently had some new plastering around a brand new window reveal. We gave it a mist coat and so far three top coats but can still just about see the corner bead 'outline' coming through. How should I go about fully covering this? Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

Is this a ghost image or is there part of the metal showing through? It possibly needs sealing with a primer, don't go heavy just go over the immediate area and feather the edges so it is easier to blend the top coat.

It's a ghost image. And I can paint over the existing emulsion with a primer or something like a Zinsser stain blocker - just guessing here.

A primer like Zinsser will have far greater opacity and should seal against any possibility of bleed-through if there is some form of contamination on the beading surface causing the ghost. Just emulsion over the specific area and not the whole reveal to balance the finish and give it a few days to thoroughly dry before doing anything else depending on the outcome.
