This new Aqua BIN what's your thoughts. It appears that now you can get rid of BIN, Cover stain and 123, just use Aqua BIN or am I reading it wrong, and you get to keep your brushes.

I have no experience with it, but I must say that it sounds like it might be an alternative to BIN. However, the BIN formula is shellac-based and you can rely on it to seal and cover a difficult surface. Looking at the data sheet it appears that the Aqua active ingredient is 1 2-benzisothiazol-3(2h)-one which is used in paints as a preservative and thickener. I would be interested to see how it performs. I use mini rollers with BIN and Poundland brushes and straight in the BIN after use.

Can't imagine it's much good without the shellac.

FWIW plain shellac (or pre-mixed french polish) is an excellent primer and much cheaper than BIN, you just don't get the colour benefit so will need to follow it up with an extra coat or two of your topcoat paint.

I recently used it on a furniture project, didn't have any BIN to hand so after sanding I applied a coat of french polish followed by 4 thin coats of Perma-white. Looks great.

The shellac is the key ingredient, Bin is just a white, thick version to give a light foundation for top coats.

It's not even that thick to be honest, only a little thicker than the french polish I used recently.

I find BIN needs two primer coats to come out good.
