When I look at the off-peak for EV, I see 7p per kWh 23:30–05:30 day rate 27.26p per kWh and standing charge of 65.84p per day. But for solar panels with batteries, 15.45p per kWh off-peak (02:00-05:00), day rate 25.76 per kWh with a peak rate of 36.06p per kWh (16:00-19:00) and standing charge 65.84p per day.
OK, there is the export rate 5.12p (02:00-05:00), 13.9p and 27.73p (16:00-19:00), so one gets paid for export, but it means with solar panels and batteries when the supplier will allow one to have an EV tariff, I know British Gas will allow one to have an EV tariff without having an EV or charge point, Octopus (their rates quoted) it seems will not allow you to have EV rate without an EV, and E.on it seems uncertain as to if you can have an EV tariff without the EV.
But the net result is being paid for export, means only around £100 to £150 better off to not being paid, as the EV rates are so low. I am going to change to a solar rate, but it seems wrong that EV uses get such a cheap rate, and those stuck in flats with off-peak heating get such a poor rate?

Tariff's for EV and solar panels with batteries?
Post by dewaltdisney »
Just like no road tax for EVs which is now coming in in April the cheap electricity is a sap to lead people into buying EVs and it will subsequently be increased when enough people have been sucked in. An EV is a terrible purchase decision, they are so costly, the batteries spiral downwards and the residual values are extremely low. On top of this no one wants them new, let alone used. Companies run them to get the tax relief incentive but leasing seems to be the only low risk way for Joe Public even though you walk away with nothing at the end and it has cost strong money for the lease period. The Government is slowly recognising that the infrastructure is not there and insistence by that idiot Milliband on all his ideas is unattainable. It is the con trick of all time.

Tariff's for EV and solar panels with batteries?
The village I live in has a load of houses with no car parking, there is a communal car park, but for most this means the only way to charge is a car park charger. So 6 bays have now been converted to 4 EV bays, and the local railway also has 2 bays during the day in summer, switched off at night due to abuse. I note one house up the road has got an EV which they charge on the road, well not really the road, they use pavement as well, with a lead stopping pedestrians using pavement, seems odd it was allowed.
But if they want people to use less carbon fuels, EV's are only part of that, and we need to see people with solar and batteries treated with the same favour as EV owners.
