I want to convert a 15 pane glazed internal door to plywood panels, Can anyone suggest a supplier of birch or similar light coloured ply in 3-4mm or 6-9mm. I can either use two pieces of the thinner ply togetger or a single of the thick as long as it is good both sides, as I want to varnish the ply to match the hemlock door. A single 8' x 4' sheet would be more than enough, or I could use off-cuts perhaps from a furniture maker. Pieces are 187mm x 332mm.

The 3 I've asked only have the thick shuttering ply, or the far-eastern redwood(plundered rainforest). But I'll have to ask around a wider area next week.

I might have to consider fixing a piece of opaque material on her side of the door, and leaving it glazed

Give this firm a ring http://www.severnply.com/news/newsitem.php?id=73

They will give you a local firm who can supply you. I order through my local timber yard. Cabinet grade birch faced ply is around £40 a sheet.

i am suprised at that, my local merchant stocks it and they have a pretty limited range.

whereabouts in wales are you? if you are near swansea, Gower Timber should either stock it or be able to get it for you.
