question is .... what do you want to set it up to do?

assuming it is the Microsoft application ............

MS Outlook is a PIM - Personal Information Manager - and you can do all sorts of things with it.

Sync an address book with a Mobile Phone?
Use it as an email program?
Sync diary and contacts with a PDA?

bit more info (and which version of Outlook) and help is on its way

if it is some other app called "Outlook" and not from Microsoft, not got a clue as not aware of any others myself :cb
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"
She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

 Outlook was an office management suite as Hoovie has said, it's part of the office 2000 package, don't know about after that, but if you want a copy just shout.

Now, now children.

It's not that Outlook is newer, it just has the calendar, better contacts manager and Tasks. It's alos quite useful when used through Exchange server to request meetings and have a centralised calendar that everyone shares.

Outlook Express is just an email client. Now called Windows Mail in Vista.

You can only access a hotmail account through outlook if you have an old hotmail account or if you pay for it.

I have an old account from about 2000 and can access my emails through outlook.

Express is is the poor mans outlook.

outllok can retrive emails form googlemail with ease and is a snitch to set up. I would never ever trust a hotmail account. I can crack one inside ten mins.( not that I would want yo but I do know how)

Take a gander at this [url]http://blogs.zdnet.com/security/?p=1939&tag=nl.e539

Why not buy your own domain name. most give you outlook access to the mail and a .co.uk domain is only about £6.00 for TWO years.

That way you would not be: doris123q4321atw@hotmail.com

You could be me@doris.co.uk so much more memorable don't you think?
