I would be amazed if he gets any kind of result.
I think he did take an advantage, although it made no difference to the end result anyway - and Raikkonen took advantage later of off-track tarmac and shoot past Hamilton as well - that should really have been punished (although as he crashed, we will never know if it would have been)

think that giving the place back routine is was one of those things were you need to be seen to have done the right thing, not just do it.
Like when you did your driving test and the instructor tells you in the test to stick the handbrake on when you come to a STOP sign - just to show the examiner you know it is a STOP and not GIVE WAY.

couple more years and he would be wily enough to have waited for another corner or two and then do him, but these guys are racers and the red mist comes down.

Shame he couldn't do what Schumacher did a few years ago when he got a drive-through and took that in the last lap and won the race in the pit lane :thumbright:
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"
She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

aye rememer the schuey one ,france i think !
found this on a F1 site

The penalty for this incident in the race it EITHER a drive through OR a 10 sec stop go. Now if the stop-go is though to cost a driver 25secs, then the drive through must less than 15 secs (25-the time spend stationary plus maybe a couple of seconds from slowing from 70-0mph and back up again). So how come if these penalties are given in that last couple of laps they BOTH result in a 25sec time penalty added?

Which would the stewards have given LH if this incident had happened on, say, lap 25? It certainly wouldn't have taken 2h to make the decision! Lewis finished 14.4 secs before Massa.

Had the stewards done their job quickly and he been given a drive through during the last lap, could he have dived into the pit lane at the end of the lap and won as he crossed the line in the pit lane a la Schumi

I think there is meant to be a maximum time limit within which a penalty has to be annouced, otherwise no penalty can be given. Maybe 30 minutes? have to have a look for that ...

IF there are penalties for Rule infringments, can't see what they cannot be given within a few laps of the incident - this one coming straight after the unsafe pit release with Massa and a €10K fine makes it all seem so one-sided they must realise how it looks to the fans!!

Tell you what I don't get with these run-offs and the like....

You need them for safety reasons, 100% agree.
F1 is mean to be a sport at the technical forefront of all motor-sport.

So the solution is simple....

Allow cars to take to the chicanes, run-offs etc as much as the drivers want, but use the technology that is available right now at a circuit that is actually owned by Bernie the midget!

The Paul Ricard High Tech Test Track

bit of blurb ..."The run-offs, which have replaced the gravel pits, have an ultra-abrasive asphalt surface designed to increase the slowing-down of cars" - prefect :thumbright:

The different colours have different abrasion levels and could easily be applied to make the cars really slow down and also increase wear to the tyres so combining those two would make for interesting results.

yup - not a shocker.

Sounds like LH was a little bit to cocky in the appeal room (no one likes a smartarse  ) but he had not a lot to lose really.

so they avoided having to defend themselves by using a technicality - how unusual for the FIA
