Vectra front disc pad change

Post by deepseadiver08 »

Hi,
Using my Haynes manual - it says to unscrew the guide bolts from the caliper ---------- is this a hex imperial screw. Metric sizes don't fit.

Thanks

I used to have a corsa based van and I'm sure it was metric.

Have you tried tapping the hex head socket/key home gently with a hammer, sometimes they are difficult to get in if residue has built up on the edges. Some WD40 may also help to clean out the hole.

Thanks for the prompt reply --

I have a good selection of allen keys and the nearest size to fit - spins inside the capped head -- I'll try tapping the allen screw head tomorrow, I've got WD40 to assist.

Thanks again

Good luck with it.

You are sure that the bolts are not torx heads aren't you?

I vaguely remember coming accross some torx head bolts on a vehicle, but can not remember which vehicle they were on

Torx bolts mainly on fords

think its 7mm hex key ,you wont have one if you just have an ordinary set ,7mm doesnt come as standard

you prob have a 6mm and 8mm

think halfords sell a 7mm hex wrench socket ,gives you a bit more leverage

I think quite a few of them are 7mm as mentioned.
