2 Way Light Switching Conversion

Hi
I need some assistance with lighting in my garage.
It is a double length garage converted to a single garage and workshop, a panel construction separates the two with door access.
The two light units have a switch at each end of the garage enabling the lights to be turned on at one and off at the other.
My question is I need some guidance how I can convert each light to be controlled by its own switch.
The reason for this being if I am working in the workshop for hours on end the other light is on as well, therefore creating a waste.

Do you still want to be able to control both lights from either end, or use one of each of the exsisting switches for each light?

Not as straight forward as you may think!
If you could explain or post some photos then we might be able to help you better.

At the moment as you enter the garage from either end there is a light switch located at the entrance, whichever one is used turns on both lights, this is how it was set up when the house was built.
My preference would be to be able to enter from either side and switch the light on for that particular area rather than both lights coming on.
If I am using the workshop for any length of time the other light is on just wasting energy.
I am uncertain if it complicates the issue even more, the other thought crossed my mind as to if the current setup could be retained and individual switching be used as well when necessary?

As Markysparky said, can you post a photo or a diagram of what your current set up is, cable numbers , cores etc, then we will definiteley be able to help you out, but as there are so many varied ways of wiring lighting its hard to advise without knowing what setup you currently have.
