Damp patches on walls.

The house we have just bought is pre 1900`s and has been sitting empty for over 15 month.

There is a few of the internal walls quite damp, I understand what has caused this and I have had someone into look at it, he thinks if i just cut out the damp patches remove the rubble from behind the plaster then plaster back up the wall again that should be good enough.

But me being me, thought it would be better to remove all the plaster, all the wood and check the studs just to be on the safe side. I don`t want to be kicking myself in a few years to come when other damp patches comes up on the wall after its all been painted or papered and new carpets or wooden floor has been put down.

Removing all the wall and cleaning everything up is a lot more work but I would rather do it right first time. Than do it TWICE.

Are you saying that it's the stud walls that have damp patches?

You say this house has been empty for 15 month's that means no heating and all sealed up you really need to get a dehumidifier in there and get some ventilation in there that should then clear out your damp problems

Thanks I was thinking about that, the heating is f**ked and needs a full replacment and all the wiring has to be replaced too.

Yes I know ill be busy haha
