Mains plug socket on/off switch jammed

Hi i wonder if anybody can help,

I was using the microwave today when it stopped and then started flashing on and off as if it were getting intermittent electricity. I immediately tried to turn it off at the wall and the switch will not turn off, so i just pulled the plug out. The microwave works in other plug sockets and is fine, as is the plug socket next to the one that is jammed (its a double socket). The switch will just not move.

Ive never come across this before and wondered if anybody had any idea what it would be.

Thanks!

Probably overheated and will need replacing.

Could be loose cable inside, worn out over time, overloaded at some time this list is endless.

Replace the socket the switch contact has overheated and melted the spring plunger thingy.

Buy a good one MK or Crabtree are the best in on particular order.

PS dont forget to turn off the power.

Socket Outlets don't last forever... Turn the mains off and change.
