metal straps

Post by phill »

Hi there,
I am restoring an old well (as in water / wishing), and am currently making a wooden bucket, and need some metal straps to hold it together.

I need something approx 12mm wide and 1 or 2 mm thick, Made from copper, brass, bronze whatever. I only need 2 strips just over a meter long each.

I'm after ideas as to what to buy and where from - or something I can pull to bits.

Thoughts on a postcard,

Thanks

Phill

Some hobby metal stockists might keep brass strip 1/2" x 1/16" (12.7x1.6mm) i expect.
Model engineering places would be a good place to start looking.

Our B&Q stocks brass (and Al, Fe) flats, angle and tube in 1m lengths.

Don't bother looking at B&Q's web site — you'll never find it.

Perfect!
A reasonable choice and although expensive I only wanted 2.
Picked up a bunch of cheap energy saving bulbs (clearance) on the way through.
