Tiling a showerplace

Hi,

I read the sticky on tiling, which was very helpful ... I do have one wee question though before I kick off!!

The showertray that we'd bought for the showerplace was the closest fit we could get, however there was still a small gap, so the builder placed it in and used expandable foam to fill the few cm's gap between the tray and the wall.

When I'm tiling the wall the tiles will come down to this foam stop gap ... how should I handle this area? Ply it full of sealant? Or is there something better to do?

some purpose made sealant strips will cover this gap, something like this: http://www.screwfix.com/search.do;jsess ... ip&x=0&y=0

or silicon a peice of upvc beading to cover the gap.

Make the walls fit the tray rather than trying to fill gaps.

This could be as simple as fitting a sheet or two of aquapanel over the existing walls.

If the gap is reasonably large I'd build a stud wall at one end to take up any slack, don't be tempted to tile it as it is and then fill the gap in.

There is a sealing system that spans wall/ledge gaps up to 15mm and meets BS5385 recommendations for sealing movement joints.
