Decking Posts

Post by birty14 »

I am planning to build a deck at the end of garden. Want to find the easies way to do do the posts. Was wondering if these posts would make it easier than using concrete or any other alternatives there are to concrete?? The area is soiled at the moment.

My best advice would be to buy one and have a go at driving it in to the ground in your garden. If it goes in and it is stable then you can use them in your garden. If you hit bedrock or the soil is too loose to hold them then you will need to find another method.

They are very difficult to drive in accurately. I don't use them and prefer to drive in pointed stobs where the ground conditions allow. Failing that, I dig a hole and set them in concrete. That way you get perfectly vertical posts in exactly the right position and they won't move.
