Creating a flower bed

Post by 81ash »

I'm thinking of creating a flower bed to the side of my garden, not really sure on how i would go about it.

Assume its case of digging up existing turf, apply top soil to bring level upto that of the remainder of the lawn. Is it really that simple?

pretty much...taller flowering plants at the back..bitof ground cover at the front..maybe some edging so that the mower won't chew your flowers.

Rhs.org (Google them) are great at this sort of thing..

Just slightly inland from you...dig in some manure whilst you're about it...job done

If you are going for curves lay out hose pipe on the ground until you are happy with the shape then cut along the ine of the pipe to get nice smooth curves. unless you want perfect semi circles or similar then you are looking at pegs and string.
