Dandelions can be lifted with a garden fork. Loosen the soil around the tap root and then lift it out cleanly.
You can also treat them with any broadleaf weedkiller. Paint the leaves with it and leave for a few days until it has wilted. Then remove the top, safe in the knowledge that the root is dead.

Can you recommend a decent brand for this?
I've got a lot of dandilions in my lawn. Last year I used to go round and dig them all up, That became a weekly routine :( and I had a lawn that made me look like a really bad golfer.
This year I tried some Feed weed and moss killer granules spread using a feed spreader, and they seem to have grown very big, so that didn't work at all.
