Trailing / Crawling plants

Hi,

Have just enclosed an area of my garden with a 50cm high thick plastic wire netting to stop my dogs ruining my newly laid lawn - they still have plenty of room to run around, just dont want them on this certain patch.

I guess the area I have fenced off is 6 metres by 5 metres and was wondering if anyone could recommened a plant that I would be able to grow along the length of it that will grow through the netting and provide a fragrant / pleasing mini hedge ??

Plant must be fairly quick growing, dont want to wait years for a proper hedge, just something that will cover the not so pretty fencing.

Rosemary...the herb, fragrant ,evergreen. and you can use it it in cooking....may be a bit slower growing than what you're looking for.?? (If you buy the plants as a small "herb pot" from morrisons or the like cheap as)

Its the fragrant stipulation that puts us in the herb train of thought.
I'd favour lavender.
Its quite fast grownig so should have pretty much covered it in a couple of years if you buy reasonable sized plants to start. Probably looking at a plant every 9 to 18 inches depending on variety planted as a bouble row on both sides of the 'fence'.

They must be small (or fat) dogs if a 50cm fence will keep them in (or out) A 100cm fence would be usless at keeping my collie in or out of an area of the garden.

Did something similar few years ago on a trelis to screen shed and greenhouse.

mixed passion flower and evergreen honeysuckle, passion grows very fast nice flowers but dies back in winter. honeysuckle fairly quick, with evergreen leaves. No scent im afraid tho!

You can get "fragrant" honeysuckle..don't know whether it would be sturdy enough to keep dogs out, and can go a bit 'bare' at the bottom..
