Cutting stainless steel sheet

Post by ahandyman247 »

Hi
I have some stainless steel sheet that was used as a back splash for a kitchen. I need to cut out a rectangle of about 2 foot by 1.5 foot. I have not got an angle grinder but I have got a quite powerful circular saw and I was wondering if it is practical and safe to attach a stainless steel cutting disk to the saw instead of buying an angle grinder to do the same job.

If not what size angle grinder should I buy?

TIA

Id use a grinder, 4.5/5" with a couple of the 1mm thick cutting discs.

The evolution type saws have a stainless steel cutting blade available, but would work ot expensive for just a few cuts.

If you live/work near a smallish fabrication/sheetmetal company, pop in and ask, they would probably cut if for a few quid.
