It not just DIYers that get it wrong, this was how the bathrooms in a Canary Island hotel were configured - hardwired mains hairdryers above the sink!

:dunno: don't they have Niciec in the canary islands??? (Or was that done by a part P Qualified kitchen fitter..)

Designed to be able to cool it down quickly if it gets too hot when blowing your hair. Just fill sink with cold water and away you go!

Most hotels abroad are like that

The only difference is they are not stupid enough to put it in the sink!!!!

The reason the UK has so many regulations is because theres so many idiots

I guess it is quick common, I just got back from New York and the hairdryer in the bathroom was exactly as above - at least the socket supplying it was an RCD one though!
