range rover p38

Post by derekholden »

Does anyone have any problems with the battery being drained on the p38 range rover. If I charge it up it lasts about a 2-3 weeks. I've had the battery and altenator tested and apparently both are fine. thanks

If you have an intermittant misfire as well they are notorious for the earth lead shorting out on the exhaust pipe.

You also might have something draining the battery, such as a glove box light that is not going out etc.

These types of fault can be a real pain in the backside to find sometimes.

I had the same on a Discovery 2 which is similar, but mine was draining overnight!! Here is what I followed... http://www.wikihow.com/Find-a-Parasitic-Battery-Drain mine was an Active Hill Descent solenoid staying permanently energised.

P38's can be prone to external RF signals (radio transmitters etc.) "waking up" the car electronics and draining the battery. Can't remember if there is a fix, might be worth having a look at one of the Land Rover forums?

the fix usually involves the removal of the antenna

www.landyzone.co.uk will have the answer
