BT HomeHub help

Post by dewaltdisney »

I am going nuts trying to sort out my BT HomeHub as it will not work on wireless. it has been fine for six months but then the wireless dropped out and it only works on the ethernet wire connected.

Both my laptop and my PC work on wireless and neither can pick up the broadcast signal. Tried my laptop at my son's house and it connected easily to his BT HomeHub and worked fine.

Bullied BT into sending me a new HomeHub which arrived today. Exactly the same with the new box, no wireless broadcast. I have fiddled and messed around switching to Windows wireless manager, setting up the profile, and back to the BT one with no result.

Any suggestions before I shell out and buy a new box?

Is the wireless light showing on the Hub? Try resetting the hub by holding down the grey button.

Don't use the BT software to manage your wireless connection, as it will conflict with the Windows software.

Uninstall the BT software and restart.

Right-click the wireless icon near the clock and select Open Network Connections.

Right-click your wireless connection and select Properties, then the Wireless Networks tab.

Click on any networks showing, then remove.

Click OK to close the boxes.

Now right-click your wireless icon again and select View available wireless networks.

Does yours show?

Got anything using Bluetooth? They can conflict if the signals are strong enough.

Try moving any Bluetooth devices away as a test ( or temporarily switch them off ).

Afraid it is. I always thought they were pretty crap, but now know for sure, doing some installations for BT.

To late for Dewalt, but other folk might still be having problems with the Homehub.

I had exactly the same issues, but then I changed the Channel Selection to manual and all has been 100% since.

Connect to the router via a browser
Select Advanced from the left hand menu
On the Configuration screen change Channel Selection to Manual
And I used Channel 9 (Fast Show Fan LOL)
Save it and then restart all your wireless devices.

Apart from that I've not had any problems with the Home Hub box itself.

I did all that Slugs, with the guidance from Bombay I think I went through every scripted fix they had. In all, I had three Hubs over a period of 14 months which all stopped transmitting wireless. I have uninstalled the BT software now and my cheapo Zoom WAP is doing fine. I like the fact I can turn it off when not in use as well.

I hasten to add if my Hub worked I would still have it but enough is enough,
