vw caddy sdi 1.9

Post by fipple »

Hi,...Brought this caddy oct 2010...im getting water coming onto the passenger footwell everytime it rains. It seems to come in down through the heater blower(ive got a pollen filter on the opening under the hood,so not sure hows its getting in)..i notice water coming out through the vent which has a small electrically kind of heater in it...keeps blowing my connector..Anyways before i get lost in the description..does anyone know how i go about stopping the rain water entering the footwell...ive heard its a problem with caDDys ::b :cussing:

May be completely unrelated, but I had the smae issue with an old starlet. One of the bungs (presumably for wiring/something that wasn't fitted) had popped out, just a little rubber circle. It was fairly obvious with the carpet peeled back, might be worth a look.

Under the pollen filter box is a gasket which is supposed to be replaced on a full service but it never is, this has almost certainly perished, I replaced mine (on a Passat) with large helpings of silicone.

The other usual reason for water to get in (Passat again) is because of a blocked drain under the battery box, the water fills it up and comes through holes in the bulkhead.

on most cars the scuttle panels get clogged with leaves so water drains into footwell.
