Laminate floor layer in Bexhill
So-called professional floor layer did this: (1) Cut both underlay and laminate all jaggedy around fireplace hearth (2) slapped some filler in any old how. and (3) used my newly-restored Victorian handrail to saw scotia. When I asked him nicely to put things right he stormed off, slamming my door so hard it nearly came off its hinges. Helen, Hastings.

Re: Laminate floor layer in Bexhill
Blimey, thats horrible!
Cut lines all over the place, he obviously marked out the boards individually rather than taking a line together before cutting and even then he couldn't keep his jigsaw straight
That filler looks like 2 pack (correct me if I'm wrong) which will give a pinch area as its solid.
As for your bannister - that is unforgiveable, one cut is bad enough but to compound the problem.........
Did you pay him before he slammed out? He doesn't deserve paid with a job like and you're still left with a mess - would love to help sort it for you but its a wee bit far to Bexhill!

Re: Laminate floor layer in Bexhill
i use a jigsaw for all cuts, reason being that all cuts are covered so dont matter if there not perfect straight and a jigsaw blade is <£1 so cheap enough as opposed to a handsaw which is +£7 of chopsaw blade that is £40+wine~o wrote:Straight cuts with a straight saw..surely54aardvark wrote: and even then he couldn't keep his jigsaw straightjigsaw is for going round difficult bits...
back to the op, if that filler is solid its useless, may as well have just cut it tight to the cupbard,

Unlikely that it's '2 pack'- can you see someone who seems to have no idea how a job should look on completion spend time mixing '2 pack' ?? ...he would just shove in some (very badly in this case) coloured filler

It does not look good. I saw your other thread so I know that it was a nightmare. Hope you get it sorted.

That's rediculous- how could he smooth it with his big toe when it's pretty obvious he was wearing 'cowboy' boots at the time?....
