fitting a barvalve shower with chased in pipework- help

Post by andyshandywork! »

Hello forum,

New user here. Hope there is an experienced plumber/diy`er out there who can help.

I am going to chase 2 legnths of 1.3m 15mm copper pipe into the wall and am reasonably happy to do the soldering etc invoved but my question is this: What sort of T piece would i need to run off these spurs from the main water feeds and also be able to go up and connect my bath taps?

Also, does the hot tap need to be 22mm or can i reduce it to 15mm with a connector before i attatch the T piece? Would pushfit connectors be suitable for this work as it would be mostly under the floor boards??

Many thanks in advance, Andy.

Sorry for late response but this will get you started.
Why not use a reducer 'T' 22x22x15 that way you keep the 22mm flow for the bath and have your 15mm to the shower.
Most on the forum would favour solder, if it can be done; compression and pushfit are more bulky and for bigger DIY jobs work out more expensive. Examples:-

hi andy, i think if its a bar shower you should be more concerned with the business end, they are pretty tricky to get the chasings just right, you need backplate elbows screwed to the wall just at the right depth, or the finished shower is either too deep and you can't get the chrome covers on or too shallow and the bar mixer is too far off the wall, you can get a kit like this http://www.bellabathrooms.co.uk/fast-fi ... g-kit.html but you need to work out the thickness of tile, the length of your tails, to determine the chase, a surface mounted shower is an easier option to fit, but more expensive to buy,
hope this helps.

If you're fitting the shower over the bath Andy, why not just change your bath taps & fit one of these;
dead link removedOops for some reason that link doesn't work, anyway, just Google Reef Bath Shower mixer.

Thanks for the advice fellas. Have got the pipework done no problems (yet) and have bought a bracket specially for the job, hope it will look ok though as my barvalve is square in design and the fittings are round on the bracket. Looks ok in my hand but we will see on saturday!!

Thanks, Andy.
