Van vault

I beleive one or two of you have Van vaults, or similar things?

Just sized one up, ideally id want one about 1100/1200 long and about 600x600, but pretty expensive, one about the size i want is about £300

Any links for suppliers of similar thing, before i start building one

in my old van i made one out of 1" Ply (which is pretty hard stuff to cut).
i put a massive lock on the box lid and i also used a 13mm threaded bar. drilled a whole through the end of the bar and welded an angle bracket on the other end. this bar slid through from the back of the van to behind the passengers seat where i put a pin through.

now if anybody wanted to nick my tools they had to break into the back, somehow get around the large lock i had on it and then if they managed that, then had to break into the front to remove the pin holding the other bar.

all of the above worked a treat and prevent anybody from nicking my tools. the problem being though, i got increasingly annoyed at having to undo both of them every single morning and subsequently ended up not bothering to lock it half the time.

I thinkl i will make one up, cant justify £250 when it would only cost me about £50 and a couple of hours of my spare time.

Get it the size i want then aswell.

I have a vault in my van, I put all the valuable tools in there and have it locked at all times, even during the day.

The way I see it is that a Van can be broken into so quickly so if you have tools loose in the back then treat the van as being unlocked.

I would guess there will be a statistic you can google on the subject

Hitch if this is near Ebay Van Tool Box, if not have a quick search, these are mostly Collection Only and can be had from around £50 to £75.

I just picked up a Van Guard Solid Bulk Head for the Expert (brand new never fitted, well it is now!)

Its a berlingo, so yeah, identical.

It will go up to the lower section of the bulkhead, and upto the front of the wheel arch, full width.
That will give me enough room for 2 routers, circ saw, cordless drills, sds drill... sanders, plus extra space.

That keeps the majority of the load space free- long stuff will sit ontop of it.
