One more question

The walls in the bathroom are 9.5mm plasterboard that I will be tiling. The tiles are 25x33cm and will go from floor to ceiling.

My question is, would the plasterboard take this load and in particular in the shower area as there will be a power shower there?

Maybe safer to skim the shower area first then sbr before tiles. The rest should be fine

Don't skim it, un skimmed plasterboard can support more weight than skimmed.The maximum weight plasterboard can support is 32kg/m2, skimmed plasterboard can support 20kg/m2. You will need a tanking kit for the shower area (Bal WP1 or similar). I would use a good quality cement based bagged adhesive and flexible grout. Hope this helps.

Does 9.5mm plasterboard really support that weight ???

Plaster board does support more weight than skimmed board . You should maynbe think abouy usimg tile backer boards you just tile straight over them

Don't even use that on ceilings anymore.....

Change to 12.5mm backer boards or 12.5mm moisture resistant board.

12.5 is a bit excessive, I'd say 10mm would be good for the job. Marmox/****/Hardi/Jacko etc would be good choice for the situation

Always myself tell people 12.5mm......

Then when marrying boards in outside the wet area you won't have problems levelling boards off...I.e. 10mm to 12.5 mm....unless off course the room is a complete wet room.

If so, do you have to fill the butts (oh err) and corners first?

Or does that get done when tanking?

Never skim plasterboard if your fixing tiles...

1. You then need to wait for the finish plaster to cure...

2.your weight limit will only be 20kg per m2....unskimmed 32kg per m2...

In your first OP...you mention ...power shower?....is it a power shower or thermostatic shower...
Won't be electric...?

Custom made....

You say power shower....if so the grout,if your normal grout won't last long with a power shower hitting it....and that 9.5mm p/board will turn to weetabix in no time ....

For power shower you will need an epoxy grout....
