Snow is coming.....

Post by BillyGoat »

Brace for impact!!!

HATE the snow, so much.

Nothing worse than being hundreds of miles away from home and looking at the window to see snow falling. Or worse, being in a factory all day that has NO windows, working hard and coming out to white stuff on the ground.

Meh. :angryfire: :cussing: :cussing: :cussing:

Sods law it will be chucking it down next week, normally all my work is within 15 miles but, as a favour, got stuck with a job 45 miles away and the roads there are basic to say the least.

thats the great thing about working from home and being semi retired and not having a car apart from fresh milk i could happily go for 3 to 4 weeks before i had to raid the freezer in earnest for something to cook and i mean cook as there will only ever be 3 or four ready meals in the large freezer

You are stuffed.....it normally happens when I'm away from home and I'm MILES away next week.

I remember last year years snow when it got REALLY bad. I was in Germany at the time, getting updates from the wife about how bad it was getting at home. Plane came back from Munich and I had a window seat. Was looking at a blanket of white, cars in fields, total carnage. Was thinking I was shafted.

Had a supply of drinks/food in the car and clothes as I planned for it, but hoped to get home. From airport to home is usually 2 1/2 hours....took FIVE hours of dodging idiots. When I got home, I got half way up my road and got stuck :cussing: :cussing: :cussing: :cussing:

Got the spade out and dug tracks as wide as my car wheels all the way to my house, which took another hour.....finally got home!! Misis said leave it at the bottom of the road, but I didn't want it being hit by the idiots who think it's alright to drive around for no reason.

Aye, its the eejits who haven't a clue about driving in "inclement" weather - particularly Mr & Mrs Invincible in their 4x4s.

My Mondeo got totalled in October during the first lot of floods, loads of roads closed trying to get home, found one spot where there were a load of cars getting through slowly so took the chance, big 4x4 came charging through in the opposite direction, solid water hit the screen and got sucked into the engine - write off. No chance of getting a number plate off the 4x4. Must say though my insurance were brilliant, took my word for the incident a gave me what I paid for it 3 years ago.

My mechanic also does recoveries, last winter he reckoned 9 out of 10 recoveries were 4x4s skiting off the road

They have forecast snow here for today/tomorrow, 5cm was predicted!
This morning it was 1-2 degrees, so I went out and dusted the drive with magic ice melt and dusted the paths and road outside using salt. If it rains I won’t be happy

I have written this, which might be of interest to some-
