why is everything easier at OTHER peoples houses?

Post by BillyGoat »

I've installed tons of aerials and sat dishes amongst other jobs - never EVER have a problem at other peoples places. Yet, I try to fit the TV aerial to my house - no dice.

End up getting an aerial person in, who has no end of trouble but gets there in the end. Got "you'd never have done this without a meter like this - even pointing the same as others wouldn't have got this!!!"

:cussing:

Satellite dish. Again, done loads.

cos we've got the little one, missis likes her TV so I want to pause TV. Dont' want sky or virgin....got the box, dish and stuff. All I can bloody well get is Turkish TV. SO close, but the place I can mount the dish has an obstruction - can't move it any more.

Now got to get a cranked mast and longer ladders. :angryfire: :angryfire: :angryfire: :angryfire: :angryfire: :angryfire:

This house really does me box in sometimes.....it's such a stupid shape!!!!!!!!!

ARgggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I have seen dishes mounted on poles in the garden, suppose its a bit late now.
Above are my opinions Below is my signature.

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

I can gut your house and re-build it from the ground up no problem.

Yet I went to hang 2 pictures in my own house today and now it looks like I've torn the place up with an AK47 ::b

Pole mount isn't an option.....it's got to be done 'properly' according to the powers that be.

I tried to convince her learning Turkish would be the easy option plus it was working there and then, but she was having none of it.

Just means I've got to move it round the front-ish side of the house, which I REALLY didn't want to do as I have to speak to the tosser next door for ladder access.

Hey ho.....tomorrow and it'll be up (fnarr).

I feel your pain BG....I live next to a pair of the same....
Plus I've got to sort the fence at the back as according to the powers that be..... some of the slats are off the level (minorly) and that pine cladding boards are "not appropriate for a fence".....the only difference between them and other slats is 2 shallow grooves on the face side and a tongue on the edge....apart from that...they are identical.....
So off to the timber merchants when the budget allows for pressure treated timber

I must admit, there is a certain merit to not having dishes mounted hideously on houses, which is what I'm trying to put mine out of sight - especially those meter dishes to get foreign satellites.

What I hate is the councils and busy bodies who resent things like street cabinets for broadband, etc - because THEY don't want it, no one gets it.

I was laughing about the dish thing earlier.....round where I am, I drive through council housing areas.....you can see their benefit levels by the LNB on the house.

If it's a single/dual feed - young couple/single parents
If it's a quad LNB - usually HD and a couple of freesats/Sky boxes
If it's an OCTO LNB and it's fully used, that's HD to each of the rooms and lounge - full claimant for the works.

Not spotted any Quattro LNB's yet....those would be the ultimate in benefit recipitants. Straight into a multiplexer for 16 glorious house feeds. Mmmm, you can taste the subscription now.
