Well true to my name i cant leave nowt alone,I had a go at trying to find out what had gone wrong with my pump
so took it to bits on top of the pump housing there is a manual plunger to purge the air out of the pump further investigation revealed the plastic rod that holds the diaphragm had snapped
so with the thought was if i cant prime it maybe that's why it isn't working
rooting around the garage i found a piece of stainless rod that was the correct diameter but way to long, cut the rod and tapped new threads on to either end fitted it all back together and the plunger worked like a dream chuffed to bits with my creation i assembled everything back together and connected it back up to the tank
all that effort and the pump still wont suck the water out of the tank

Missus's lad phoned up yesterday,,, Could I hang a door at their house for them? So called in at work and picked up the tools I thought I'd need. Got there in the sweltering heat only to find the door they wanted hanging was about 3/4 inch less, than the width of the door frame. Had to go out and get some timber to reduce the width of the door opening. Planed the door down, slightly (to fit) and marked the hinges on the door. Took it outside and made the first year apprentice mistake of cutting the hinges to the wrong side of the bloody marks. :wtf: ::b ::b ::b ::b ::b . Re-cut the hinges and managed to get it swinging. What should have normally been less than an hour to do, took over 2, 1/2 hrs with the running about etc. :cb :cb

On a serious note though..... did your goldfish die due to heat? I ask as we've just had an Orf(?) die in our pond.

IF..you want to be serious...then a combination of heat and old age...the three that died were approx 30 years old (And a bit)...30 years is pretty good for a goldfish..or orfe...and would be roughly the equivalent of 70=90 years in human terms...
