ryobi /aeg muti head system including oscillating saw head

ryobi and AEG both come from the tti industries stable

the first thing you notice about the aeg heads is the weight virtually all metal
angle drill 800g
jigsaw 1100g
hammer head 710g
ryobi oscillating head 400g including blade
machine body 620g


oscillating saw function
i bought the ryobi 18v multitool complete with oscillating head
it performs in a similar way to the bosch blue 10.8v pro model [oscillating speed]
it will run far longer than the bosch by the fact its an 18v system and all batteries available are greater than the 1.3ah li-ion in the bosch although you can now get 1.5 and 2ah li-ions

the bosch is far more compact than the ryobi with the battery within the slim profile
the ryobi partly makes up for that by having a 4 position head at 12 oclock 3 oclock 6 oclock and 9 oclock positions the ryobi is also heavier and longer
ryobi 345mm 1.1kg no battery
bosch 280mm 830 g no battery
length includes the batteries but excluding cutter [80mm more]

angle drill function
with the angle drill head fitted its identical to the ryobi angle drill at at 390mm x135mm height and battery size
the angle drill has a bigger jaw to back off 120mm
the head attachment is more compact at 95mm both 10mm capacity

jigsaw head
cuts at a similar rate to my dewalt 18v jigsaw but doesnt seem to like cutting as tight on curves [identical blades]
the head has no pendulum or angle function
the stroke is quite short at about 15mm
the machine is well balanced and cuts well but as a 350mm length quite restrictive cutting within a confined space although its just about possible to cut in a space around 170mm tall compared to a more normal 230mm


hammer head

quite impressive but would tend to use it for finishing as its less likely to bruse the wood when you try to knock flush
will not work in reverse as i found out:oops:

there is also an impact hex drive head but i dont have it to test

an actual hammer its a bit like a giant powered pin push with an outer locating ring and a central hammer plunger for heads up to around 12mm[suspect 1/2" at 12.7mm]

Ah, I get it now.
Looks like a nice piece of kit, yet another Ryobi range I'll have to get into.

I've got 8 one+ tools, and a couple of the expand-it garden tool bits, now this! Well, Christmas is coming.
