curved chisels

Hey folks

while doing ben laws round pole joinery course we
were using curved chisels to remove timber from scribed
line in round pole.... savage chisels!

Problem is i cant find the chisels online or remember the name
of them :(

Anyone out there know??

Its not a swan neck.... the search continues!

Its a chisel thats used with a mallet and is a decent weight

the curve is across the cutting edge so as the follow the scribed

line on the round pole

You've already said it's not a gouge - that only really leaves a chisel with an end that' s not all at 90° to the sides, a round nosed chisel - a bit like a really badly sharpened chisel.

That's a turning tool, do you use a mallet when turning?

I think it has to be a gouge of some sort - there's much larger gouges available than what's used for turning.

.........but that's a gouge, (a scribing gouge), and the OP has said it's not a gouge.

Here's a nice "Framing gouge" @ 109 euros

(I'm learning new stuff today).
