bosch 10.8v blue worklight
had it few days very impressed with the quality with the features and how long it lasts
if bright about a 40 or 60w old fashioned bulb has 2 power settings they seem to be about 15-20 percent duller but 55% more run time
it has a carabiners type loop
a magnetic in the carabiners base
a hanging loop and a great selection off angles
i have some figures but may have confused a 2.5ah and a 2ah but will update with further tests lol
a 9 year old 1.3ah battery on low power lasted a few mins short off 6 hrs [17.00-22.54hrs]
a 2.5ah 1 year old on low 10h 14m [13.30-23.44 this may have been the 2ah]
same battery on full 6h 22m [10.40-1700 again may be the 2ah but more likely the 2.5]
the worklight is indeed expensive at £35-40 but well worth the money as its compact and light

Re: bosch 10.8v blue worklight
I have a nice torch that goes with my 10.8v tools, it's fairly bright but too much throw and too little flood for use as a worklight. I have been thinking of ways to improve that but had trouble doing a conversion. Wish there was something like yours for my battery system.

Re: bosch 10.8v blue worklight
It's the Workzone (aldi) set which also happens to be the same as Draper Stormforce. My set is mixed between the 2 brands. The torch came with the workzone set, it's a 1W LED and it's a pretty handy torch, weighs hardly anything without the battery and the run time is really good, in theory with the 1.3ah battery it's about 5 hours. What I would have liked though is something positionable and with more flood. I have have a 12v LED floodlight that I made a little base for, it runs from a main adaptor but I can run it from a car battery or the 10.8v tool battery if I want to but that's not as convenient as having the neat package like yours.

Re: bosch 10.8v blue worklight
these work really well very very bright

will only last about 1 hr on a 1.3ah battery you just need a lump off metal as a heat sink

BA, have you seen that all the Bosch 10.8v is being rebranded as 12v now

Re: bosch 10.8v blue worklight
Those are the same as in my LED floodlights, I have experimented with that and they do run pretty well off the 10.8v battery, problem is you get max of about 2 minutes before they burn themselves out because there just isn't adequete cooling in a torch body, you need the big heatsink capacity of the aluminium housing of the floodlight. In just a few seconds of running the back of the LED got hot enough to stick to the skin on my finger!big-all wrote:these work really well very very bright

Re: bosch 10.8v blue worklight
i run several off tool batteries
2 in series run nicely off off a dewalt or ryobi 18v battery
you can also get them as 32v where instead off the 3 segment in each row being in parallel with each other the are in full series so perfect for a 24v[28.8v] bosch battery
you need to keep in mind a fully charged battery will be about 20% over volt so a 10.8v battery is actually a bit high for the first 1/3 off capacity as its around 13v
where as a 18v will give 21.6v perfect for 2 in series that will be 18[2x9v] and 24v[2x12v]
if run as near to the bottom voltage as possible you will get perhaps 20-25% less light but 2times the run time

Re: bosch 10.8v blue worklight
i also run groups off these but suspect modern chip types are more efficient

Re: bosch 10.8v blue worklight
That looks like what is in my current torch. Identical voltage, shape and output is about that too, maybe a touch higher. Do you have any idea of something I could replace it with that might put a little more light but also give good runtime and most importantly run cool?

Re: bosch 10.8v blue worklight
i dont think you will get anything much different you may get say a 5-10% difference in any one direction or even 5% less heat 5% more run time and 5% less consumption but it may ruin a perfectly functioning torch for somthing that may not be any better or possibly worse as not specifically designed with the new led

Re: bosch 10.8v blue worklight
these look interesting as 3-3.2v four in series will be 12-12.8v so work perfectly with a fully charged 10.8v[12.96v]

Re: bosch 10.8v blue worklight
There is a voltage dropping circuit built into the torch, the voltage across the LED is just over 3v even though the battery is 10.8v
