Wood or glass ballustrades?

We are having a rear extension done and as the house is on a slope there will be a raised terrace (full width of property (7m) and going out 2m. It will be approximately 1m from the garden level so needs ballustrades to comply with building control.
We have found glass railings wth poles at 1m intervals, but the cost with railings along the stairs going down to the garden level is coming in at around £3000 including fitting. We would love a glass infinity system but that would cost even more. And as the floor tiles are porcelain (limed oak) and the side wall adjacent to our neighbour is brick we think wood might be a better choice and also a lot cheaper. We would like hardwood and would like ideas of places where we can source these from please.
