Lawnmower

Post by parkgate »

Can anybody please advise.

My lawn is approx. 100 sq metres and is sloping.

I would like to buy a rechargeable / self propelled mower that is up to the job - any recommendations?

Or are we still on 1st generation and therefore is it worth waiting?

Thank You.

I would go with a fossil munching mower - petrol

unless you meant 100 Sq Ft

Yes - I suspected you might say that!

I did mean 100 sq metres.

I will phone a few of the manufacturers.

This will do the trick http://www.screwfix.com/p/mountfield-sp ... ower/21442

Poly deck so no rusting and self propelled to help cope with your incline. A season of cutting with around 5 litres of fuel. :thumbright:

Yes this looks very good and a reasonable price.

Thank you.

I have e-mailed Bosch to ask about their rechargeable lawnmowers - but have no heard anything yet.

Lawn probably not big enough - but no where to store it anyway.

Thanks

I must say that I do not think an cordless electric mower will have the guts for your lawn. A self propelled mower really makes it easy with the incline and the motor copes with cutting when the grass has got a bit long. The only pain is emptying the grass box  The quicker the job is done the less time the mower is running and this mower will whiz over your garden. if you have concerns on pollution you would need to balance this against the pollution created in providing the electricity to recharge the cordless mower battery.

Many years ago I had an electric corded mower and I was always tripping over the lead or running over it  The motor blew and I replaced it and the next year it went wrong again and I smashed it to death with a sledgehammer. I have had petrol mowers ever since.

The lawnmower version of this?

I'd agree about the petrol mower. Plenty of power, and ready to go any time. Cheaper to buy too!

 Yes, it was Dave. It was a Black and Decker and the new motor I had replaced started making a screech and stopped. I was so incensed that I turned around grabbed the hammer and smashed it quite a few times until my rage had subsided. Momentarily I felt a surge of satisfaction. It taught me two things, buy at a disposable price and do not lose your rag over stupid things. I do not think I have smashed anything since and that was 30 years ago.
