Hi all,
I've just had a bathroom tiled which is all good - trouble is we've ended up needing to build the basin off the wall to get adequate headroom (it's in a pitched roof)... so what I'm left with is a timber frame around the basin that now needs tiling over. It's such a small job the original tiler isn't interested and I'm keen to try and tackle it myself.
Can I tile directly onto the timber or should I use some cement board/aquapanel between? I've been told it should be fine to tile directly onto if it's primed, what kind of primer should I use?
Thanks

Tiling on timber is never successful and it will fail at some point. The best solution is to sheath it in Aquapanel or a similar cement board. This will give a proper tiling substrate for this situation and will solve your issue.

Sounds like I've been given bad advice - I'll get some Aquapanel on there first. Thank you!
