Push open/close cabinet fittings

Post by ahll »

I am thinking of doing away with the cupboard handles and fitting those that you push the door to open and close.

Does anyone have recommendation as to good fittings to use ?

Have people who have done this found it to be a good move ?

I've fitted then on our utility room cupboards and they work pretty well, we got ours from ikea where we got the cupboards from but you can get them elsewhere.

If you do fit them, make sure to put the final fixing pins in once they're working correctly.

There's a few more styles around nowadays, but I'm referring to this very commonly available type shown below.

The small round hole in the flange at the side is where the pin goes.

I would say from my experience avoid the ones with a white plastic hook striker, they often break across the tip.

Also because the doors need to be pushed first before opening that the closed position is not fully against the stop so the doors may not lay flat.
