Isolation Valves for a toilet

Hi
I was about to buy a standard isolation valve to replace a seized one in my main toilet but the bloke in B&Q told me I couldn't use compression valves on the type of pipe I have (although they seem identical to the one currently fitted). The type he suggested wasn't in stock so I'm confused at to what i'm looking for.

Can anybody point in the right direction please (see pic attached)?

I've seen this advertized on Screwfix but not 100% sure...
STRAIGHT SERVICE VALVE 15MM X ½ "MM

At the top there is a plastic screw attached to a metal valve and then going into a pvc pipe.

thanks
